This policy explains what personal information Wide Open Approvals collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle your information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and any applicable provincial privacy laws.
1. Who we are
Wide Open Approvals helps Canadians find powersports financing. We are not a lender. We collect your information to match you with financing options from our network of third-party Canadian lenders and lending partners. Any loan, rate, or term is provided by a lender, not by us.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us when you complete our financing application form:
- Identity: first and last name, date of birth.
- Contact: email address, phone number, home address (street, city, province, postal code).
- Financial & employment: credit situation, employment status, length of employment, gross monthly income, desired monthly payment, and whether you rent or own your home and how long you've lived there.
- Product interest: the type of powersports vehicle you're interested in financing.
- Consent record: the fact that you agreed to be contacted, and the date and time you agreed.
Information collected automatically when you use our site:
- The web address you arrived from and the page URL you submitted from.
- A Google Click Identifier (GCLID) and similar advertising identifiers, if you arrived from one of our ads.
- Standard technical data such as IP address, browser, and device type, and information stored via cookies or similar technologies.
3. How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Process your inquiry and match you with financing options you may qualify for;
- Share your application with our network of lenders and lending partners on your behalf;
- Contact you by phone, text message, and email about your application and available options;
- Verify information, prevent fraud, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations;
- Measure and improve our advertising and our website.
4. Consent & your choices
By submitting our form, you consent to us collecting and using your personal information for the purposes above, and you agree to be contacted by phone, text, and email. Providing consent to be contacted is not a condition of any purchase.
You can withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP to a text, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or contacting us using the details below. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to help you obtain financing. Some records may be retained where required by law.
5. How we share your information
We share your personal information with:
- Lenders and lending partners in our network, so they can assess your application and present financing options — this is the core reason you submit the form;
- Service providers who operate our systems on our behalf, such as our customer-relationship management (CRM) platform, website host, messaging (email/SMS) providers, and advertising and analytics providers. These providers may only use your information to provide services to us;
- Authorities or other parties where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights and safety;
- A successor in the event of a sale, merger, or reorganization of our business.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Processing outside Canada
Some of our service providers (for example, our CRM, advertising, and messaging providers) may store or process your information on servers located in the United States or other countries. While it is handled there, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and government authorities of those jurisdictions under their laws. We take steps to require our providers to protect your information.
7. Cookies & advertising
We and our advertising partners (including Google) use cookies and identifiers such as the GCLID to measure ad performance, attribute leads to the ads that produced them, and improve our campaigns. You can control cookies through your browser settings and manage ad personalization through your Google account's ad settings. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
8. How we protect your information
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above and to meet our legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations, after which we securely delete or de-identify it.
10. Access & correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
11. Age requirement
Our services are intended for adults who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory. The site is not directed at minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated policy on this page. Material changes may be communicated to you where appropriate.
